To counterbalance today's tough competition and the need to acquire best marks in school, in spite of a difficult syllabus, Dance and Music play a very important role. They soothe and relax the minds of over-stressed school-children and at the same time they educate the children and stimulate their concentration and creativity.

Like other regions of India, the area of Garhwal Himalayas has its own rich tradition of Folk-Dances and Folk-Songs. The Garhwali Folk-Songs have special lilting tunes, immediately touching the heart, which has made them popular even far outside the Garhwal area. Also the Garhwali Folk-Dances are very much liked everywhere, since they are lively and very graceful.

It is wonderful, that in all our Omkarananda Hill Schools this beautiful Garhwal Folk-Art is propagated and encouraged, since it is a valuable treasure, which should be kept alive.
